E.A.R.T.H. Awareness of Brevard, Inc., (Entertainers
Against Ruining Their Home) is a non-profit corporation organized in
1997 and received its Internal Revenue Service tax-exempt 501(c)(3)
status, in May 2000. The organization was created to make a difference
in the creative lives of our children by supporting and encouraging
the pursuit of art and music. The organization is comprised of entertainment
industry professionals such as musicians and actors, along with artists,
environmentalists and generally anyone who is interested in the arts,
children, and our environment Susan Luley, is the President and Founder.
The organization’s first project was the production of the "E.A.R.T.H.
Awareness Festival 1999", held in April at the Spirit of the Suwannee
Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The event provided a performance venue
for young people of Florida to showcase their talents. It was a family
oriented weekend of camping, music, environmental education and fun.
Realizing the difficulties of producing a large, multi-day event out
of the area, the organization decided to bring the event to Brevard
County and nurture its growth in the organization’s own community. Brevard
County has been the home for the E.A.R.T.H. Awareness festivals since
2000.
In 2004 the name of the annual festival was changed to help market the
event to a broader audience. Our annual festival was renamed "The Space
Coast Jazz and Blues Festival" and will be held annually during Columbus
Day weekend.
We manage and market the events in addition to paying expenses. This
enables us to receive all proceeds from the event. The Space Coast Jazz
& Blues Festival will provide quality entertainment, visual arts, and
awareness of the needs of youth arts programs in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Our Mission
- Promote quality family time in a natural setting with an annual
festival of music, art, drama, education and fun.
- Raise funds to generate support our direct-to-teacher classroom
supply program for art, music, and drama programs in the Central Florida
schools, and to assist other art and youth programs that benefit Florida
children.
- Teach youths how to come together to make a difference in their
community.
- Help save creative programs in the schools and communities for youths.
