E.A.R.T.H. supports young
creative minds with several E.A.R.T.H. Awareness youth programs
annually. Our accomplishments to date are:
- From 1999 to 2006, E.A.R.T.H. Awareness has produced 12 Music
Festivals for the community. 5 EARTH Awareness Music & Arts
Festivals, 1 Space Coast Jazz & Blues Festival, 3 Muddy
Waters Memorial Blues Fests, 3 Stephen Miller Memorial Blues
Bashes and the Big Dave Fiester’s Birthday Barbeque.
- In 2000, 5 guitars were awarded to music programs in Brevard
County schools. Cocoa Beach High School Chorus, Jefferson Junior
High, Anderson Elementary, Merritt Island High School and Johnson
Middle School.
- In 2001 - 5 Electric Light Dance Parties were held at Central
Area Recreation Centers for area teens. These events provided
a fun and safe way to spend a Saturday night with their friends.
- In 2001 a piano was donated to The Rockledge High School Auditorium.
- 2 Battle of the Youth Bands have been produced at the festival
in 2002 and 2003. From these Band Battles, 2 youth bands Lita
Grey and Summers End were awarded $1000 each in Recording time
from area recording studios.
- 3 Teen Karaoke Competitions have been held at previous festivals
with the winners receiving a new Samick guitar valued at $750.
The 3 winners were Jackie Morgan, Amy Weinrich and Alexis Cruz.
- In 2003 & 2004, 3 "Student Band Bashes" on Saturday nights
have been held at Surfside Playhouse, this allows teens a safe
and fun way to hang out with their peers and 10 young band have
had the opportunity to perform on a professional stage with
sound and lighting..
- In 2003 & 2004, 2 Totally Talented Teen Talent Competitions
have been held at Surfside Playhouse. 2 students won a new guitar
for their participation in these contest. The winners of these
competitions were Carlia Butte and Heather Moore.
- 2 annual "High School Drama Competition" where area schools
are eligible to participate in an Improvisational Competition
to win cash for their school’s Drama Programs. $500 was given
to the Rockledge High Drama Department in 2002 and $500 was
given to the Melbourne High Drama Department in 2003.
- A "Judged Student Art Show" is part of our annual
fundraising festival. At the annual Space Coast Music Festival,
students will compete in the Judged Student Art Show, to win
cash and art supplies. In the past 6 years a total of $3500
has been given to local Brevard County schools art students
for their accomplishments in art. Students have been from Cambridge
Elementary, Long Leaf Elementary, Tropical Elementary, Rockledge
High, Eau Gallie High, Cocoa Beach Jr./ Sr., West Shore Jr.
/ Sr. and others.
- From 2000 to 2004, E.A.R.T.H. has donated $750 to Sabal Elementary
for their participation as volunteers at the annual festivals.
- In 2004 E.A.R.T.H. Awareness joined the Adopt A Shore program
from Keep Brevard Beautiful. We adopted from16th to 26th Street
South in Cocoa Beach. We hold 4 annual beach cleanups, which
help teach how to protect the environment.
- In 2004 E.A.R.T.H. Awareness became an affiliate of The Blues
Foundation.
- In 2004 - 2005 we will implement our Stephen Miller Memorial
Music in the Schools Program for the elementary schools, $1400
was raised on August 22, 2004 to implement this program.
- E.A.R.T.H. Awareness is a member of The Brevard Cultural Alliance
and The Cultural Alliance Advisory Network since 2000.
- E.A.R.T.H. Awareness is an affiliate of the EARTH Day Network
since 2000.
- In 2005 E.A.R.T.H. produced The Stephen Miller Memorial Blues
Bash in co-operation with the New Space Coast Blues Society
and helped raise $10,000 to get the Society started and helped
the Blues Society purchase 40 drums for the elemenatry school
music programs cultural drum program.
E.A.R.T.H. is completely supported by contributions
from the community and all contributions are tax deductible. All
proceeds donated to E.A.R.T.H. are used to enhance the lives of
creative young minds and for E.A.R.T.H. Awareness Youth Arts Programs.
We are run by a volunteer board of directors who give countless
hours to make this dream a reality. |
