THE SPACE COAST JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL

E.A.R.T.H. ( Entertainers Against Ruining Their Home) Awareness of Brevard is busy planning there festival for October 8 & 9. In 2004, the 6th Annual E.A.R.T.H. Awareness Festival has changed its name but the event will be the same. E.A.R.T.H. Awareness is changing the name of its annual festival to the Space Coast Jazz & Blues Festival. This change will provide the opportunity for greater visibility and expansion of the event. The E.A.R.T.H. Awareness Festival has always provided quality entertainment, visual arts, educational awareness and a family-friendly atmosphere, while now adding special a cultural awareness -- Blues, Jazz and Folk music-- the original genres of American music. Proceeds from this event support the E.A.R.T.H. Awareness Direct to Teacher Classroom supply program for Art, Music and Drama teachers in the Brevard County Schools.

The event will be held at The Space Coast Clarion on Friday 8 Pm to 12 PM and Saturday evening 10 PM to 1 AM and Kiwanis Island Park on Saturday from 10 am to 10 PM. Both venues are on Merritt Island.

Featured areas of the event include:

Main Concert Stage - professional musical entertainment
Youth Performance Stage - performance and educational area for young people
Picking Shed - acoustic music performances and workshops
Arts & Crafts Village - showcases regional artists and is sponsored by theArtists Support Group
Youth Pavilion - children’s workshops, games and activities - fun and educational interactive environmental and children’s non profit organization exhibition area.

Professionals in Florida’s entertainment industry started E.A.R.T.H. (Entertainers Against Ruining Their Home). Support to produce the event each year comes in a variety of ways, but mostly through the efforts of professional musicians, sound technicians, stage hands, theatre producers, and the like. This professional environment provides the perfect atmosphere for a high quality, entertaining event that’s easily accessible from anywhere in Central Florida. The event is held October 9, 2004 from 10 AM to 10 PM at Kiwanis Island Park, located in Merritt Island, just on State Road 520 and is convenient for visitors from all areas of Central Florida.

E.A.R.T.H. AWARENESS Mission:

ü Promote quality family time in a natural setting with an annual festival of music, art, drama, education and fun.

ü Raise funds to help implement a direct-to-teacher classroom supply program for art, music, drama programs in the Central Florida schools, and to assist other art and youth programs that benefit Florida children. Provide lasting memories of fun and educational experiences.

ü Teach youths how to come together to make a difference in their community.

ü Help save creative programs in the schools and communities for youths.

This years name change to The Space Coast Jazz and Blues Festival, will insure the event to be bigger and better than before. 2 national headliners and many talented local and regional musicians performing will make a fun weekend of incredible roots music

E.A.R.T.H. is proud to bring into our community, a band of truly incredible Blues Legends. Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, W. C. Handy award winning, "Best Blues Drummer" for multiple years. Willie Smith was the drummer for legendary Blues artist Muddy Waters. Accompanying Willie will be, Bob Stroger, W.C. Handy Best Blues Bass Player, Kenny Beady Eyes Smith and Frank Krakowski, The Jazz Headliner will be pianist Sunnie Paxson featuring vocalist Monique, Kenny Cohen Jazz Trio add the Steve Thorpe Blues Orchestra, The Bluescasters, The Debby Boyer Jazz Trio, The Austin Pettit Band ,The Syndicators, and High School Jazz Ensembles and Jazz Dance Troupes.

The Clarion Hotel Merritt Island Causeway, Merritt Island, Florida will be the Official Host Hotel for The Space Coast Jazz & Blues Festival. This year, the Clarion Hotel has become our lodging partner for out of state musicians who will perform. On Friday evening, October 8th a VIP Opening Night Cocktail Party & Silent Auction from 8 to Midnite, will be held in the new Clarion Night Club featuring The Debby Boyer Jazz Trio, The Austin Pettit Band and Special Guest saxophonist Kenny Cohen. On Saturday Evening in the Clarion Night Club there will be an after festival Jam at 10 PM to 1:00 AM hosted by The Syndicators and featuring Willie Smith, Bob Stroger, Sunnie Paxson and other musicians from the festival. The Clarion is offering a Special Jazz Fest Weekend package for people who come for the weekend festivities. It will include a room for Friday and Saturday Night and tickets to all 3 events.

Tickets for the events are $20 for Friday Nights VIP Opening Night Cocktail Party and Silent Auction, $10 for the Festival on Saturday and $10 for the After Show Jam Session or purchase a weekend advance ticket for $25.
