STEPHEN MILLER BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS PROGRAM WILL BENEFIT FROM THE STEPHEN MILLER MEMORIAL BLUES BASH AT KIWANIS ISLAND PARK PAVILION, MERRITT ISLAND, FL.ON AUGUST 22, 2004.

 

E.ntertainers A.gainst R.uining T.heir H.ome is preparing for the 2nd Annual STEPHEN MILLER MEMORIAL BLUES BASH, proudly sponsored by Jack Link & Associates. The 1 day event will help raise funds to implement a Stephen Miller Blues in the Schools Program in Brevard County Elementary Schools. The event will be held at The Kiwanis Island Park Pavilion on State Road 520 east of the Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island, FL. On Sunday, August 22 from 11 AM to 10 PM. There is a $5 admission fee at the gate.

E.A.R.T.H., stands for Entertainers Against Ruining Their Home. E.A.R.T.H Awareness of Brevard, Inc. a non profit group is comprised of entertainment industry professionals, musicians, artist, actors, environmentalist and generally anyone who loves the arts, children, and the earth .The organizations mission is to make a difference in the creative lives of our children. The group is dedicated to preserving creative outlets and natural experiences for the youth in Central Florida, to preserve arts programming in our schools and pass on the culture and the traditions of American roots music.

The proceeds from this event will be used to help implement a Stephen Miller Blues in The Schools program in Brevard County Elementary Schools. Steve loved kids and passing on his tradition of blues music to area elementary school children is a way to honor his memory and his love for traditional Blues Music. Steve played with many national acts including, Earl Hooker, John Lee Hooker, Elvin Bishop, The Allman Brothers and Grinder Switch to name just a few. Steve was instrumental in bringing Traditional Blues music to the Florida Space Coast. He was one of the founding members and the Hammond player for our own blues legends…The Groove Monsters.

Sunday’s lineup includes a list of talented musicians who had the privilege of performing and learning from Steve. A Winos for Peace Reunion featuring, Bruce Johnson on the harmonica, Mighty Joe Luley on the Pots and Pans, Ray Satcher on bass, with guitarist Mark Otis, Josh Miller, Papa Chuck, also featured in the reunion jam will be Randall Brown, Dave Grier and other special guest. Blues Mama Cookie Mariano will be bellowing Blues tunes with The Vagrantz early Sunday evening, The Austin Pettit Band featuring blues mamma Debby Boyer, Papa Chuck & The Phat Katz, The Tom Bayes Blues Band, and The Josh Miller Trio will provide an incredible day of blues music paying tribute to Stephen Miller, our beloved Grandpa Blues.

Numerous Volunteers are needed to help with the event. 2 Admissions are given to anyone who donates 4 hours of their time to this great cause. Please call 636-7231 to sign up to volunteer.

The Picking Shed stage will expose the audience to some great Acoustic Blues. A guitar workshop presented by singer songwriter, slide guitarist Ernie Southern and a Blues History workshop by Tom Bayes are also planned for this stage.

The list of organizations involved for the event is growing, presenting sponsor Jack Link & Associates, WFIT 89.5 Radio, Brevard Live Magazine and others are helping insure this event to be bigger and better than last year.

The Blues Community is coming together to insure all children have creative outlet. Children need nature, music and the arts - not guns, drugs & violence.

Non Profit organizations are needed to exhibit in the Blues pavilion. Vendors with fun activities for children and other festival type activities are needed.

The show will be held rain or shine. NO COOLERS PLEASE - Food and Drink vendors will be on site all day. No pets or bad vibes. Come enjoy a fun filled day of great Blues Music!
